POEMS FROM THE HEART

The following poems accompanied some of the letters as I exchanged thoughts with those who were searching for the Truth of Scripture and life.  They express the intense stirring of my heart over certain of the topics discussed.

If you enjoy Christian Poetry, then you must visit The Christian Poets Corner.  This site presents the writings of over 100 of the Master's children, who are trying to praise and worship Him through words from the heart - ours included.

THE LIFE OF THE FLESH

Early on we learn the truth,
that by His blood we are saved.
Redeemed by Yahshuah through His sacrifice,
by the blood of the cross we are bathed.

Early on we learn the fact that,
flesh has its life in the blood.
Claiming our victory through Yahshuah our King,
we accept Elohim's grace from above.

But in matters of life we seem to forget,
that the shedding of blood is a sin.
Not to exclude that group being slaughtered,
before their life can begin.

For if the life of the flesh is found in the blood,
and an embryo's cells contain it -
What do we call the act that we do,
when we allow mankind to drain it?

The shedding of blood is a sin; this is true,
and all blood shed cries out from the land.
Elohim hears those silent cries, my friend,
whether or not we lift a hand.

REVIVAL

To live a life outside His will
is such a lonely deed.
When all He wants from His children,
is that we bear good seed.

Good seed, to Yahshuah, is that which falls
upon the fertile soil -
And in His light to take delight,
and to His glory toil.

For life is meant to glorify Him,
as all things to Him belong.
Yet weak, and sinners are we all.
Only in Him are we strong.

Oh Elohim of all mankind have mercy,
and revive our hearts to You.
Allow Your faithful children,
to be as the morning dew.

Allow the name of Yahshuah,
to receive honor, glory and praise.
Revive us once again, oh Father,
and to Him live out our days.

For evil permeates our land - it's true,
and even Disciples fall.
It's hard to tell the difference,
between the faithful and the small.

We know that You'll return some day,
sooner than mankind believes,
Prepare us then to meet our King,
as a tree prepares its leaves.

Give us discerning hearts, Oh King,
wisdom and knowledge too,
And mercifully revive us, Yahshuah,
before You claim Your due.

ALIVE WITH YAHSHUAH

I never had a time of youth,
I've worked since I was five.
I never knew to stop and play,
or to enjoy being alive.

The days just seem to ramble on,
no meaningful purpose found.
I appear unable to even glorify Yahshuah,
how sad, uptight and bound.

I call to Him each morning,
and praise Him every night.
My sole desire is that some day,
I might be to His delight.

Thus far I am unable, though,
to make any sense at all,
of the disappointments of my life,
of the spring, summer or fall.

Patience is the battle cry,
endurance is the plea.
Eventually I am certain though,
that Elohim will use even me.

For now I wait, for now I pray,
but soon I'll spring to life.
While it is day He'll use me,
for no man can work at night.

Youthful glee will fill my heart,
as unto Yahshuah I'll toil.
Entrusting all my treasure to Him,
knowing there will be no spoil.

And when He comes to claim His bride,
youth will again be mine.
And for eternity I will joyously play,
alive at Yahshuah's side.

JUDGE NOT

Perhaps the hardest lesson to learn,
"Judge not, lest ye be judged".
Is among the last to be mastered,
before into His service we are nudged.

We cannot be seen as intolerant.
We cannot be known as closed.
We must present gracious compassion,
Or our message remains indisposed.

"Judge Not" means just that, my friends,
regardless of the sin.
Messiah died for all, you see;
He desires for all to come in.

And do fear that which harms the flesh,
but fear greatly the loss of a soul.
Let the blood of Messiah cleanse all mankind,
as you fulfill your most noble role.

Open your heart to the sinner, therefore,
lest you be tempted too.
For which of us can stand before Elohim,
without Yahshuah to see us through?

Present our Messiah in peace and joy.
Present Him with courage and pride.
And be knowledgeable that if you toil with love,
Yahshuah will be your guide.

FRUSTRATION

When I first turned and found Yahshuah,
I spoke reams of Him to strangers.
But as I've aged, my faith, it seems,
has turned inward - a recognized danger.

Although Yahshuah has taught me much,
and His Word is now my guide,
I find myself very silent,
when speaking-out does joy deride.

That which I've gained in Yahshuah,
I know for His glory shall be used,
Strangely though, as I wait for His lead,
His Word is being craftily abused.

The world no longer yearns for truth,
Elohim's wisdom they no longer seek.
And though they claim to be "Christian",
the creation they steal from the meek.

We are told that all things have a purpose,
and that apostasy precedes His return.
Which means that before revival,
Elohim's Word will mankind spurn.

While my silence brings temporary frustration,
my inaction short-lived heartache and grief.
The revival to come, the forgiveness we'll see,
will also bring tremendous relief.

For my silence shall have served a purpose,
because when I speak-out I will most certainly know,
that Yahshuah's love and forgiveness will ring out,
by my life I know it is so.

And on that day repentance shall rule,
forgiveness fully realized.
And frustration shall cease, you see, because,
His Word shall once again be prized.

THE JOY OF ELOHIM'S DISCIPLINE

Oh Yahshuah, my Redeemer indeed,
to You my soul does cry.
My King, my Master and Messiah,
for you my life must die.

Each day I pant, I twist and writhe,
for want to please just You.
And yet I seem unable,
the simplest task to do.

Yet even still my heart does know,
that pleasing You I am,
when in my life Your discipline I feel,
the molding by Your hand.

It matters not the pain I feel,
grumble as I may.
Cause, "Well done, faithful servant",
I yearn to hear some day.

So finish what You need to do,
within my life, my King.
For on this path in you I walk,
and there-on my heart shall sing.

To You alone belong the praise,
to You the glory be.
And if through my life I can add to that,
what joy for lowly me.

WELL DONE MY FAITHFUL SEED

Lost behind my feelings,
a shadow of what I am.
Meant for holy purpose,
within Yahshuah's great plan.

But seeing what I really am,
without His sacrifice.
I am unworthy; nothing,
and shrink as melting ice.

Oh Elohim, my Elohim,
please, Master, do hear my cry.
I long to live for You, my King,
to labor, then to die.

Oh Yahshuah, my Messiah, my most Holy King,
He who keeps and provides for me.
Fulfill Your desires within my life,
and grant my heart Your glee.

I know in You I really am,
more worthy than fine gold.
And with Your Ruach ha Qodesh within,
let me live and be so bold.

Be glorified my Messiah,
in all my acts and deeds.
That in the end, these words I'll hear;
"Well Done, My faithful Seed".

THE SCARLET LACE

The Scarlet Lace is all we have,
to cleanse and make us pure.
Through Yahshuah ha Mashiach alone we live,
by what He did endure.

And what He did, He did for all,
if they accept His deed.
And if they do, you see, my friend,
they too are holy seed.

Proclaim this wonderful news, therefore,
"For Elohim so loved - He gave."
That by the Scarlet Lace of Yahshuah,
we are free from the eternal grave.

For pain is never pleasant;
discipline never sweet.
Yet by these spiritual devices,
we'll sit at our Master's feet.

They're wrought because of sin, you see,
that truth we cannot erase.
Nice as we all think we may be,
deep down we're really quite base.

The only way we're useful then,
is to learn from our mistakes.
Accept the pain for Glory
the discipline for Goodness' sake.

For when we err we testify,
of our Father's redeeming grace.
When we repent, and turn, that is,
and claim Yahshuah's Scarlet Lace.

IN OUR FATHER'S HOME

Mom and Dad are both gone now,
most Aunts and Uncles too.
The grandparents even followed some,
while today, there's life anew.

Especially at Christmastime though,
my thoughts turn to the past.
As memories of days gone by,
are among the things that last.

This life is short I realize,
and we can add naught to it.
Yet it is sad to learn this truth,
only after we've gone through it.

I too shall pass along some day,
maybe soon and maybe not -
And wonder of the memories,
being left to my young tot.

I know that she will miss us,
her Mom and her Dad too.
But abiding faith in Yahshuah,
will surely see her through.

I pray she never loses sight
between truth and mankind's lies.
And pray she'll hold Yahshuah dearly
when either of us dies.

For if I can leave her but one thing,
it would be a life of faith;
That somehow she would clearly see,
Yahshuah conquering death.

For He alone can fill the voids
of any losses known.
Because eternally - in Him - we will be together,
in our Father's Home.

LEARNING

Learn from His Word - that truth endures;
that love does conquer all.
That life is short, this we must know,
for the great and for the small.

Learn from His grace - to forgive;
as He has forgiven you.
And in your sin understand the truth,
that all mankind are sinners too.

Learn from His peace - to be at ease;
calm, while others fail.
For only in His Ruach,
will we withstand the coming gale.

Learn from His joy - to laugh and smile;
as others walk in gloom.
For therein lies His witness,
which will shine in the face of doom.

Learn from His mercy - to give of self;
instead of, "me", "me", "me".
We only possess what we give away,
because our sharing sets us free.

And learn from His love - a final way;
for Yahshuah's child to be.
For, "by their fruit" is the only proof
that identifies His holy seed.

DIVORCE

My child and her mate have decided to split,
and the pain for all is great.
But to know why Elohim hates divorce,
we must consider society's fate.

My granddaughter is caught in a struggle of pain,
and her anguish at two is extreme.
Weekly she's split between mommy and dad,
her home life, no longer a dream.

It's too early to be awakened,
by this cruelty when you are two.
And I wonder what sort of effects this will have,
on her life, and her children. What a zoo!

She stands at the window crying, "mommy",
as my daughter walks out of the door.
She's going to work; she'll return soon,
but the tot still screams in the horror.

Society says she will recover,
that she'll find love in more families this way.
But I see in her face the pain of divorce;
the confusion and anguish. I pray!

By letting me see this horror,
Yahshuah has shown me our disgrace.
But these lessons are hard, and I cry out for Him,
to restore the joy in her face.

"Torment not this child, that Your lessons I might learn,
permit this babe of grace to have joy."
And He says in return, "Open your eyes to the world",
for divorce is Satan's ploy.

"I will never forsake or abandon", He Says,
"I will never deny or refuse."
"But the son of perdition has deceived them all,
and in following him they all lose".

"They are losing the battle each day, My son,
they are losing eternally too.
Have peace in your heart for your grandchild,
but tell them this truth I've shown you".

"Tell them of reconciliation,
tell them that their sins I forgive.
Tell them that through My blood shed,
what I want is for them to live".

"Tell them to forgive each other,
to have love and joy in their heart.
Tell them to have peace, whatever their place,
and from My ways not to depart".

"I died on the cross, not abandoning them,
And I did so that they might live.
But the evil one has deceived them,
and divorce is used as his sieve".

"By staying together they reflect Me.
In unity We remain One.
What Elohim has joined together,
By Elohim alone must be undone".

ELOHIM'S LOVE

I've agonized, for a great while,
over just what Elohim sees in a soul.
I've prayed to know the value we have,
in the eyes of the One in the Know.

When He looks at you, or He looks at me,
what is it He prizes so much?
This lesson I sought to discover,
not knowing the pain it would touch.

He showed me through a child I love,
and tormented me in concern for her care.
Because of her situation,
my life was in total despair.

As I sought His protection for my Grandchild,
and I prayed for her life every day,
unable to think of anything else, you see,
He showed me the value this way:

"Your agony over this little one,
reflects slightly the pain in My heart.
Your torment is merely an itch when compared,
to the burn that I've felt from the start.

Humanity is My creation,
each soul is a child of Mine.
My love for each of my offspring,
is total, complete and sublime.

But My children despise My teachings,
My Word they ignore and disdain.
My love they reject as too simple,
My laws too old; not mundane.

To see what I see you must love them,
regardless of sin and of strife.
To feel what I feel you must know then,
the value I place on a life.

My Son I sent to redeem them,
forsaken as He hung on the cross.
Sent to bring home My children,
that not one should ever be lost".

So now when I look at a stranger,
I see my Grandchild in another's skin,
and know that My Father loves them,
because all of us are His children.
